Philadelphia, PA - Congresswoman Scanlon (PA-05) today applauded the Biden Administration’s decision to award $750 million to fund the Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub (MACH2), a renewable hydrogen production facility that will generate clean energy, create jobs, and boost Pennsylvania’s economy.

The Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub will produce, distribute, and use hydrogen to power industrial facilities and transportation in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Southern New Jersey. As a result, the project is expected to create 20,800 direct jobs - 14,400 construction jobs and 6,400 permanent jobs - establish a highly trained and unionized workforce, and produce clean energy that will serve our communities.

Scanlon. “I applaud President Biden and Secretary Granholm’s decision to award $750 million to the Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub, which will be a significant economic driver in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub is one of seven clean hydrogen hub proposals from across the country that received robust funding from the Democratic-led Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The program’s goal is to establish a national clean hydrogen network to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, create jobs, and take advantage of existing gas and oil infrastructure.
