Chester, PA — Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon (PA-05) today released the following statement in response to former President Donald Trump being found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records to influence the outcome of the 2016 election: “Today, a jury of Donald Trump’s peers, 12 American citizens, found him guilty on 34 felony counts. It is a sad moment for our nation that – for the first time in history – a former U.S. president has been found guilty of criminal conduct - and particularly illegal conduct designed to deceive voters. However, we can be proud that today’s verdict sends a powerful message, that ours is a nation ruled by laws, not men, and that in these United States of America, no one is above the law.” ### |
