Second, six-bill funding package helps with the cost of living, sides with hard-working Americans, protects women’s rights, reinforces America’s global leadership, and helps our communities be safe and secure Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon (PA-05) today voted to pass the second and final set of six overdue regular appropriations bills for fiscal year 2024, which began September 2023. The package includes $1.4 million for a flood resilience project in Eastwick, Philadelphia, bringing the total amount Rep. Scanlon has secured for PA-05 projects in fiscal year 2024 spending bills to $11,591,126 for 15 projects that will directly benefit PA-05 residents. “Today I am relieved that we were able to finally pass a bipartisan government funding package that invests in the critical government programs and services on which PA-05 families rely while addressing some of our nation’s biggest challenges,” said Rep. Scanlon. “Extremists in the House Republican caucus held the budget hostage for months, but House Democrats kept our promise to the American people to never let the perfect be the enemy of the good when it comes to solving problems on behalf of our constituents. Divided government demands compromise, and while there are aspects of the final budget package that I would not support on their own, I am pleased that we have finalized this year’s budget and can move forward with other urgent legislation. I am especially proud that with the passage of this second funding package, we secured a total of $11.6 million for 15 projects across PA-05 that will strengthen our communities, create jobs with better pay, and address environmental and infrastructure needs.” With the passage of today’s funding package, Rep. Scanlon has now finalized a total of $11,591,126 for the following 15 projects:
